The Florida School Plant Management Association (F.S.P.M.A.) is dedicated to the exchange of information and ideas among school districts, community colleges and universities for the purpose of improving school plant management, maintenance and care through the promotion of acceptable policies, standards and practices; and to promote the professional advancement of school plant management personnel. Membership includes maintenance, custodial, grounds, safety and environmental staff and supervisors, and other facility related school professionals as well as related industry representatives. The Florida School Plant Managers Association offers members a chance to share and learn with colleagues from other districts, and hear presentations from some of the finest practitioners in the country through affordable events such as district workshops and an annual conference. The annual conference features seminar speakers on various topics including custodial care, environmental issues, hazardous materials, heating and cooling, energy management, safety, landscaping, and staff motivation. In addition to the workshops, there is an expo with over 80 vendor booths. In addition to the annual conference, the association hosts one-day district workshops on topics such as building codes, energy management, safety, grounds, maintenance, and custodial services at convenient and accessible locations through out the state. The Florida School Plant Management Association also offers a Professional School Custodian Certification Program and continuing education courses associated with that program.
